Jotham

Clinical Psychologist

Hi, I am Jotham but feel free to call me JJ. I am a clinical psychologist at Being You Mental Health and Disability. I have experience working with clients across the lifespan and I operate from an evidence-based perspective, tailoring my approach specifically to each person’s individual needs and presentation. I work from a biopsychosocial perspective where I carefully consider each person’s presentation from their unique biological, psychological and social factors that contributes to their experience.

In my approach, I draw from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectal behaviour therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness techniques, and emotion freedom techniques (EFT, also known as tapping).

As a therapist, I consider myself warm and welcoming, and treat my clients with the dignity and respect that everyone deserves. I meet clients clients wherever they are in the moment and work towards improving mental health and leading a more fulfilling life. Clients can expect me to be transparent, listen attentively and non-judgementally and work towards shared goals that are in their best interest. I treat everyone as a person rather than a condition. I am genuinely interested in helping my clients and I continuously strive to improve my clinical skillset to provide the best possible service I can.

I work with people with a range of emotional, psychological and behavioural disorders, but I also work with people simply looking to better manage stress, improve their productivity, improve personal relationships, improve self-esteem or maintain healthy psychological functioning.
